What is minimalism?

It is a trend that started mainly in art and architecture after World War II where it is focused on reducing a subject to its necessary elements.

In other words an expression of art where less is more, contrary to abstract art or other styles.

This trend has become more popular in different categories of lifestyle, art, home decor, food, architecture and pretty much everything in life.

Minimalism is an expression of yourself throughout whatever you choose to implement it on.

Are you happy with what you have in your life?

If the answer is yes then you are ready to start a minimalist lifestyle where you will focus on decluttering everything in your life that is not necessary.

Have you ever had these thoughts?

  • I spend too much on clothes and they wear out real fast.
  • I bought things for my house I don’t really need.
  • I spent a lot of money on material things and would like to travel more.
  • My closet is a mess and I can’t find something specific when I need too.

If you can relate to any of these thoughts and would like to change them into something positive just start attacking each little “problem” in your life with a different mindset.

Start simple and easy

You don’t need to immediately throw everything away, or feel bad if you purchase something you really like. For me starting to become a minimalist has been a fun way of rediscovering myself and learning to become a more thoughtful shopper.

The reason I started this blog is because I wanted to share fashion and my clothes but when I started felt ridiculous being an everyday wannabe fashion blogger.

It just wasn’t me…I felt like I was not reflecting my real lifestyle and only trying to prove I have really nice clothes and hope someone wants to be like me, shopping and traveling with no real purpose in life.

After reflecting on the real purpose of my blog, I discovered the capsule wardrobe community and the minimalist lifestyle and fell in love with it, it felt so much more like me.

I got to discover what I really like to do which is take care of my life, my mind, my body, and my money by becoming a more strict and conscious shopper, learning and discovering amazing brands that are trying to make the world a better place, and abstaining myself from shopping only what I need because less is moreright?

How can you start a minimalist lifestyle?

Declutter your life

You can start by your wardrobe, then your kitchen, then the rest of your house and even with what surrounds you, relationships, events. Do what you love, be yourself and use your energy for only things that make you feel positive.

Become a conscious shopper

Conscious shopping means knowing the brands you buy from. If every brand you have bought from until today told you they test on animals, or make massive pollution to the earth, or dispose their waste in the ocean, or use harmful chemicals in their factories, would you still buy from them?

I hope not, because nowadays I think we live in such a globalized world that it can become pretty hard to be strict with your shopping. So don’t be afraid or lazy and start looking for ethical brands in everything you can.

Choose quality over quantity

Sometimes ethical brands will be more expensive but in the end the mindset of quality over quantity is what will give you your return on investment.

And that’s it I think theres not much science to it! Declutter your life and become a more conscious shopper! Remember that less is more and the only milestone between a path to happiness is your mindset on living and accepting what you have and not having the need to have more!
